한국어 초록

개인이 겪는 스트레스가 심혈관계와 소화기계, 내분비계의 질환과 정신질환 등 개인의 건강에 직접적인 향을 준다는 보고는 많으나(대한 심신스트레스 학회, 1997), 실제로 지역사회 정신보전 현장에서 가족건강을 위한 서비스에 활용할 수 있는 가족에 대한 연구보고는 거의 없는 실정이다. 대도시 저소득층 가족과 가족문제(한국 가족계획 연구회, 1990), 일부 소도시 생활보호 대상자와 장애인의 복지요구에 대한 조사(한림대학교 사회복지 연구소, 1996), 입원한 정신질환자 가족의 스트레스에 대한 조사(양정은, 1993)정도이다. 이에 지역 사회 청소년 자녀가 있는 가족을 대상으로 가족의 스트레스 요인과 가족대처 양식을 조사하여 지역사회 장신보건의 기초자료를 제시하고자 한다.

영어 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between the life stressors, and the coping and stress responses of families with adolescents in Chun Chon city. Life events, family coping(F-CIOES)and stress of symptom(SOS) inventories were carried out among mothers in 583 families who had adolescents in high schools..
this result revealed th following:
1) Examinations at school taken by adolescents wre the most frequented and severe stressors for these families. Secondary stressors for these families were economic hardship due to childrens education expenses and decreased family time spent together Low income and low education families showed higher stressors than other families.
2) The coping methods often utilized by these families were reframing of stressors, social support and spiritual support which are considered active coping strategy.
3) According to the self monitored SOS inventory, the stress response symptoms of these families were severe in many area such a emotional instability(anger), cognitive disorganization and depression etc., which require special attention for Stress Management.
4) The factors contributing to the stress response seen in families with adolescent children are as follows: Stressors, mothers age, mothers educational background, number of family members, fathers occupation, spiritual support, house style and income explains 24.8% of the overall stress response.
These findings suggest that low income, low education families with adolescents and single parents need special attention to reduce high stress. Schools, community centers, and other mental health centers need to develop programs for Stress Management, along with health related classes and self support groups for these families with adolescents.
