한국어 초록

인본주의와 구성주의라는 사회적․교육적 패러다임 속에서 교과교육은 학습자의 개별화․다양화
를 지향하고 있다. 이에 따라 각 교과에서는 교과내용에 대한 학습자의 인지구조와 발달이 타
교과와 상이하다는 영역 특수적 입장을 개진하게 되었다. 이러한 맥락 속에서 본 논의는 학습자
의 개별화․다양화를 고려한 사회과 지리교육 내용에 대한 영역 특수적 구성 방향을 모색하고자
하였다.
먼저 학습자의 인지발달을 보편,일반적으로 간주하는 영역 일반적(domain-general) 관점의 인
지이론과 개별․특수적으로 보는 영역 특수적(domain -specificity) 관점의 인지이론을 비교하였
다. 그리고 구체적으로 두 이론에 각각 상응하는 Piaget의 인지발달이론과 Gardner의 MI 이론
(Multiple Intelligences Theory)을 함께 살펴보았다. 두 이론의 대조로 영역 특수적 관점이 자
연과학에서부터 인문학에 이르는 광범한 영역의 내용을 포함하는 지리교육 내용구성에 의미 있
는 시사점을 줄 수 있음을 제시하였다. 그러나 고등학교 1학년 <사회>교과서의 분석을 통해 영
역 특수적 관점이 교과서에 의한 1차적 교수학적 변환에 거의 반영되고 있지 않음을 확인할 수
있었다. 보편,일반적 설명 위주의 이러한 구성은 지리교육 각 내용영역에 대한 학습자들의 인지
방식과도 부합되지 않을 뿐만 아니라 관련된 다양한 연구 성과 역시 반영되고 있지 않음을 보여
준다.
따라서 학습자 개별성을 고려한 다면적인 지리교육 내용구성의 방향은 먼저 그 원리인 체계성
의 측면에서 학습자의 인지 방식에 적절한 내용을 풍부하게 개발해야 할 것이다. 다음으로 적합
성의 측면에서는 언어-논리 일변도의 설명적 구성에서 벗어나 학습자의 다양성이 고려된 적절한
교수학적 변환을 통한 내용구성으로 나아가야 할 것이다. 이에는 지리 영역의 내적인 경향과 외
적인 분야와의 교류를 적극적으로 고려하여 사회적,교육적 요구의 반영 역시 필요하리라 본다.

영어 초록

The subject education is conducted to realize individualization and diversification in
social and educational paradigms, humanism and constructivism. Accordingly, a
domain-specific view is reported that learners' structure and cognitive development are
differently displayed in every subject. In this context, the paper was intended to find
out a domain-specific structural direction for geography in Social Studies by
considering learners' individualization and diversification. First, the cognitive theory of
a domain-general view and that of a domain-specific view were compared with. The
cognitive theory of a domain-general view universally and generally handles with
learners' cognitive development. On the other hand, the cognitive theory of a
domain-specific view individually and specially handles with it. Also, since Cognitive
Development Theory by Piaget corresponded with above two theories, Piaget's theory
and MI theory (Multiple Intelligences Theory) by Gardner were specifically researched
into. After two theories were compared with, it was presented that a domain-specific
view was able to draw suggestions considering geographical contents structure
including extensive areas from natural science to humanity. However, it was found that
a domain-specific view was barely reflected to the primary didactic transposition by
textbooks, after five kinds of textbooks of Society for a 1st grader in high school were
analyzed. This structure was not in accordance with the learners' cognitive method for
each area in geography. Moreover, various results of concerned researches were not
mirrored. Therefore, the direction of contents structure for domain-specific geography
considering learners' individuality should be to develop abundant contents for
geography so that they will be proper to learners' cognitive method from the aspect of
a principle. Then, from the aspect of appropriateness, geographical contents should
remove explaining structure continued with language-logic and tell of contents
structure regarding learners' multiple intelligences. At last, geographical contents
should embrace social and educational demands positively considering the interchange
between the internal trends of a geographical area and an external area.
