The current research is on the family dancce therapy based on psychodynamics. In first, the psychodynamics on family dance theory is studied and compared with and then the following conclusion was made considering a realistic approach of the representative clinical therapist on family dance therapy Dulicai, Bell and Murphy. In first, the concept of family dance therapy is based on the dynamics emphasizing the understanding and interaction of family relationship. Diverse information resulting from family environmental factor surrounding an individual was engaged by nonverbal behavior and communications, and the correlation between the psychodynamics and the Effort/Shape theory of Kestenberg was applied to the analysis of family interaction
In second, the family dance therapy of Dulicai, Bell and Murphy can be summarized as follows.
Dulicai tried to combine psychoanalysis and the system theory. He regarded the reverse function of a family is the failure of mutual complement of role in the family (among family members or inside an individual), the results of unsolved conflicts, etc. During the treatment process, the interrelated pathology is dissolved and promotes emotional growth of a family.
Bell watched the behavior process of all level of human experience including physical behavior as well as the formation and expression of emotion, belief and values in all human interactions. She proposed that it is natural to interpret family behavioral pattern as the movement of behavior and considered those observed in the family dance therapy session as reproduction of nonverbal behavior. Bell's therapeutic approach stimulated, interpreted and provided insights on the unconscious. It further helped to understand that the internalized objects of the past is intervened in the present family relation using the transition and reverse transition emotion. Therefore, the fundamental objective is to support the desire of family members' attachment on each other, individualization and personal growth.
Murphy thought that self-psychology, psychodynamics oriented therapy and execution is at the center of the theory. He focused on the relationship between a infant and a mother as a foster during the infancy, and especially on the view of considering a mother as an expansion of a self-object. Murphy's dance therapy technique pays attention to the changes of behavior and introduction of a specific behavior affecting positive effects on relaxing tension, reducing conflicting behavioral patters, harmonizing and stabilizing communications between parents and a child, and healthy development of a child.
In third, the characteristics of family dance therapy of Dulicai, Bell and Murphy can be summarized as follows.
Dulicai laid stress on the role of nonverbal communication, used psycho dynamic unconscious message, and the use of Effort/Shape according to the development stage and regarded gestures, facial expressions and muscle movements for transferring tools accompanying bodily movements as nonverbal evaluation of family system.
Bell made a family to meet in integration by body movement work, and made to understand the impromptu movements as creative movements. In addition, she promoted introspection, understanding and motivation for diverse and complex emotion and ambiguous behaviors. She focused on the bodily behaviors, emotional expression and interactionof understanding in all levels of human experience, and applied and systemized FIRO (Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation) on the family interactions.
Murphy cured centering on family with a one year old infant or younger, and allowed the participation of the infant at the level of nonverbal symbol. He stressed on the dynamics between parents and an infant and nonverbal support. He tried to bring positive development by reducing tension and conflicting behavioral pattern between family and by changing behaviors through the application of psychodynamic Effort/Shape.
As explained above the common features among the three people are their basis on the psycho dynamics, emphasis on the nonverbal interaction among family, and the combination of the Effort/Shape concept with family treatment theory.
