The purpose of this review is to examine the effects of video-based interventions on improving motivation and self-regulated learning strategies(SRLS) of students with learning disabilities(LD). An intensive search of the literature between 1980 and April 2007 yielded a total of 14 studies that met the inclusion criteria. Findings included: (a) six types of video-based interventions were identified; (b) five of the six video-based interventions demonstrated effects on motivation and use of SRLS regardless of grade level, curricular area, and classroom setting; (c) the video producing intervention was not effective; (d) the results of studies that compared students with and without LD on motivation and SRLS were not consistent across the dependent variables; (e) authentic tasks, discussion, learner-directed learning, and rich interactions were commonly employed characteristics of effective interventions; (f) compared to single group design studies, treatment/comparison group designs reported mixed results; and (g) settings, intervention implementers, and measures were not associated with the effects of interventions.Key words : video-based intervention, self-regulated learning, motivation, students with LD* Chosun University
