본 연구는 부모의 사회경제적 지위가 가져오는 학업성적의 변화에서 사교육 시간, 학업흥미의 이중적 매개효과를 검증하는데 그 목적이 있다. 분석에 사용된 데이터는 한국청소년패널 데이터 중학생용 1, 2, 3, 4차 년도의 자료를 사용하였다. 분석 결과를 살펴보면 첫째, 사교육 시간, 학업흥미는 중학교 2학년에서 고등학교 2학년에 이르는 4년 동안 꾸준하게 증가하지만, 학업성적은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, SES→학업흥미(중2)에서 사교육 시간(중2)이 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, SES→학업성적(중2)에서 사교육 시간(중2), 학업흥미가 각각 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, SES→학업성적의 변화에서 학업흥미의 변화가 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 사교육 시간(중2)→학업성적(중2)에서 학업흥미(중2)가 부분 매개하였다. 일곱째, 사교육 시간의 변화→학업성적의 변화에서 학업흥미의 변화가 완전매개 하는 것으로 나타났다. 여덟째, SES→학업성적(중2)에서 사교육 시간(중2), 학업흥미(중2)가 이중매개를 이루고 있었다.

영어 초록

The purposes of this study were 1) to investigate the trends and changes of students' private tutoring time, 2) to verify the longitudinal mediating effect academic performance of the youth and 3) to analyze the relationship among the academic interests and academic performance, changes of students' private tutoring time and parents' social and economic status. The data used for the analysis of the study was from the longitudinal data of K. Y. P. S. (Korea Youth Panel Survey) from the 1st year to the 4th year of middle school students, which National Youth Policy Institute collected in the method of Stratified Multi-stage Cluster Sampling. The major findings of this study were as follows; 1) The change of students' private tutoring time were steadily increased for 4 years from the 2nd year of middle school to the 2nd year of high school. The main reason of to increasing the private tutoring time were as the amount of learning, the difficulty of learning and the matriculation exam and so on. 2) The changes academic interests from the 2nd year of middle school to the 2nd year of high school were to steadily increased. 3) The degree of their academic performance were steadily decreased for 4 years from the 2nd year of middle school to the 2nd year of high school. 4) The parent's social and economic status were to impacted through the medium of their private tutoring time on the degree of students' academic interests. 5) In the influence of parents' social and economic status on middle school 2nd year-students' academic grades, it was found that students' private tutoring time has a mediating effect. 6) The social and economic status(SES) of parents' on middle school 2nd-year students had a partially mediated effect on academic performance throughout the academic interests. 7) The changes of student's academic performance had totally mediated on the changes of their academic interests during the 4 years private tutoring time. 8) The parents' social and economic status (S. E. S.) were dual-mediating effects on the academic performance by private tutoring time and their academic interests.
