4.0 Generic Core Scales Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory의 한글판을 이용하여 측정하였다.
This research investigated the relationship between physical growth characteristics and health-related quality of life in four areas including physical functioning, emotional functioning, social functioning, and school functioning among toddlers. The data came from 260 children in Seoul area. Children's growth status was evaluated by height for age Z score and body mass index for age Z score. Sociodemographic information of the participants was collected by surveys given to the parents. Health-related quality of life scores were measured by Generic Core Scales Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory. Group differences were analyzed between deviant groups with excessively high or low height or body mass index and standard groups. Boys with higher than 1 BMI for age Z scores showed significantly lower social functioning scores than boys without. However, when the sociodemographic factors were controlled, the effect of low BMI on social functioning score disappeared. Girls with lower than -1 height for age Z scores showed significantly lower scores in all four areas of health-related quality of life than girls without. Even when the sociodemographic factors were controlled, girls with lower height for age Z scores still had significantly lower scores in all four areas of health-related quality of life than girls without.
Key words:toddler, growth, height, body mass index, health-related quality of life
