한국어 초록

사회과 수업에서 수업 전문성에 대한 논의는‘교수내용지식’,‘ 실천적 지식’, 그리고‘수업비
평’의 형태로 이루어지고 있다. 이 가운에 교수내용지식은 교사 지식의 형성과 내용표상의 방식을, 실천적 지식에서는 반성적 실천의 과정과 수업을 통해 형성하는 이미지를 강조한다. 수업비평은 전통적인 장학에 대한 대안으로 등장하였으며 수업에 나타난 교사의 저자성을 강조한다. 수업전문성 담론들은 공히 사회과 교사의 전문성 자체에 대하여 말하거나 기술적 전문성을 강조하기 보다는 사회과 수업과 교사지식에 대한 질적인 이해를 강조하고 있다. 최근 사회과에서 수업전문성의 신장을 꾀하고 교사의 수업을 평가하기 위해‘PCK를 통한 수업 컨설팅’이 이루어지고 있다. 특히 PCK는 사회과 수업에서 교수방법을 제공하는‘내용교수법’과 사회과 수업을 관찰하고 평가하는‘수업컨설팅’에서 수업전문성을 설명하는 핵심적인 개념으로 언급되고 있다. 사회과 수업에서 수업전문성에 대한 실천의 사례가 양적·질적으로 심화되고 있음에도 불구하고 PCK의 개념과 성격에 대한 이해의 과정에 혼란이 존재한다. PCK 교수방법(내용교수법)으로 인식하거나 내용지식의 한 형태로 보는 등의 혼선이 빚어지고 있다. 특히 PCK를 내용을 가르치는 방법으로 보면서 일반적인 형태의 교수아이디어를 만들려는 시도는 PCK의 성격에 비추어 보면 적절하지 않다. 수업컨설팅을 통해 기존의 장학이 갖는 문제점을 해결하고 수업의 본질적인 부분에 접근하려는 노력이 이루어진 점 자체는 인정해야 할 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 수업컨설팅이 여전히 방법과 절차를 강조하면서 수업을 교사와 교과내용, 교육과정, 학습자 등의 총체적인 상호작용으로 보기 보다는 분절적으로 바라보는 점은 문제로 지적될 수 있다. 그렇다보니 수업컨설팅을 통해‘교수내용지식’‘, 실천적 지식’‘, 수업비평’에서 다룬‘교수레파토리’,‘ 수업 이미지’‘, 아우라’와 같은 수업 전체를 아우르는 총체적인 아이디어에 접근하지는 못하였다. 따라서 수업컨설팅을 통해 교사가 갖는 교과 내용에 대한 해석의 방식과 해석의 관점, 그리고 교사의 수업 전체를 아우르는 아이디어를 다루는 방향으로 논의가 이루어지길 기대해 본다.

영어 초록

The teaching expertise in social studies class are discussed on three aspects of
‘pedagogical content knowledge’, ‘practical knowledge’, and ‘teaching criticism’. While
pedagogical content knowledge highlights the formation of teacher’s knowledge and the ways of content representation, practical knowkedge put emphasis on reflective practice and image
formation through teaching. The criticism of instruction has emerged as an alternative to the
traditional supervision and emphasizes the authorship of teacher in instruction.
The discourses around teaching expertise both focus on the qualitative understanding on social studies instruction and teachers’ knowledge rather than to emphasize the technical expertise in teaching. Recently ‘the instructional consulting through PCK’ has been implemented to improve teachers’ expertise and evaluate the instruction of teachers. Especially PCK has been mentioned as a key concept which explains ‘subject matter pedagogy’ that provides teaching methods and ‘class consulting’ that observes and evaluates the instruction in social studies. Despite action cases of teachers’ expertise in social studies have increased quantitatively and qualitatively, there exists a confusion in understanding the concept and features of PCK. There are perspectives that consider PCK as a teaching method or a type of content knowledge.
Especially when we consider the features of PCK, it is not proper to try to generate general
teaching ideas with PCK as a teaching method.
However we should admit that we can solve the problem of traditional supervision through
class consulting and make an effort to approach the essential part of instruction.
Nevertheless, it is considered problematic that class consulting still put emphasis on the
methods and procedures and perceive the class as a group of segments rather than a
comprehensive interactions among teachers, subject matter, curriculum and students.
Consequently, we have not been able to approach to the general ideas that encompass the
whole class such as ‘teaching repertoire in pedagogical content knowledge’, ‘class image in
practical knowledge’, ‘aura in teaching criticism’ through class consulting as we did with PCK,
practical knowledge, and teaching criticism.
Therefore, it is expected that discussions are made around the ways and viewpoints of teachers’ interpretation on subject matter and the overall ideas of teaching with class consulting.
