본 연구는 상호작용의 관점에서 웹 기반 교육을 둘러싸고 있는 기저 이론들을 포괄적으로 탐색하고 각각의 이론들이 웹 기반 교육에 주는 시사점을 도출해 본 뒤, 이를 토대로 하여 웹 기반 교육의 이론적 기저에 관한 하나의 가설적인 모형을 정립해 보고자 시도되었다.다양한 이론적 고찰과 논의를 통해 웹 기반 교육에서의 상호작용에 이론적 토대를 제공하는 포괄적인 원리로서 원격교육 이론과 구성주의 학습이론이 제안되었고, 특히 내용 매체와의 상호작용에 기반이 되는 이론으로는 자원중심학습과 인지적 융통성 하이퍼텍스트 이론이, 교수자- 학습자, 학습자- 학습자간 상호작용에 있어서는 커뮤니케이션 이론이 제시되었다. 특히 본 연구에서는 학습자의 내적 상호작용 활동을 웹 기반 교육에서의 주요 상호작용 유형 중 한가지로 보고 있는데, 여기에 이론적 근간이 되는 이론으로는 자기조절학습 이론이 제안되었다.끝으로, 제안된 이론들을 종합하여 상호작용에 기초한 웹 기반 교육의 이론적 기전에 관한 가설적 모형이 제시되고 있으며, 보다 심도 있는 연구를 통해 모형의 수정·보완은 물론 웹 기반 교육과 관련된 다양한 이론들을 통해서 얻을 수 있는 시사점을 바탕으로 세부적인 가상수업 설계원리와 전략들의 도출 및 이에 대한 검증 작업이 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

영어 초록

This study aims to investigate the theoretical backgrounds of web- based education and to present a hypothetical model on the major theories and principles that have relation to web- based education(hereafter WBE) in terms of ' interaction;.In this study, the researcher pointed out four types of interaction in WBE. They were labelled learner- content(media) interaction, learner- ins tructor interaction, learner- learner interaction, and learner's intrapersonal interaction. The first type is interaction between the learner and the content, subject of study, or learning media such as hypertext/ hypermedia. The second type is interaction between the learner and the expert who prepared the subject material, or some other expert acting as instructor. The third type is inter- learner interaction between one learner and the other learners, alone or in group settings. The fourth type is interaction in the learner's inside. Especially, learner's intrapersonal interaction is very important to unders tand major factors affecting learning process and cognitive activities in learner control environment such as WBE.As the result of reviewing related research and studies, the researcher proposed five theories as representative theories supporting WBE from the viewpoint of 'interaction' :distance education, constructivistic learning, self- regulated learning, resource- based learning, and communication theory. Learner- content(media) interaction is related to resource- based learning and cognitive flexibility hypertext. Learner- instructor and learner- learner interaction is supported by communication theory. Learner's intrapersonal interaction can be explained by self- regulated learning and meta- cognition theory.Finally, the researcher suggested a hypothetic model synthesizing the major theories and principles that have relation to web- based education in terms of 'interaction'. Much more research and studies which support validity of suggested model and draw out specificstrategies from this model need to be attempted in the future.
