한국어 초록

최근 세계 각국에서는 교육개혁의 핵심 사안으로 교육과정 개혁을 추진하고 있다. 이 글에서는 이러한 세계 각국 교육과정 개혁의 한 가지 동인이 바로 ‘세계화 현상’이라는 점에 주목하면서, 교육과정 개혁에서 국제이해교육이 어떻게 다루어져야 하는지를 살펴보았다. 오늘날 지구촌의 삶에서 세계화라는 현상은 점차 광범위하게 영향을 미치는 요인으로서 교육 분야에도 하나의 새로운 도전으로 등장하고 있다. 이러한 세계화의 도전은 각국의 교육 개혁에서 ‘국제 경쟁력을 기르기 위한 교육’과 ‘국제이해를 위한 교육’이라는 두 가지 방식으로 해석되고 있다. 특히, 점차 상호의존성이 증대해가는 국제사회에서 국제이해교육의 필요성은 커지고 있다.
이러한 관점에서 세계화 시대의 국제이해교육을 살펴보았다. 곧 국제이해교육의 내용 구성 방향과 내용 영역의 구성, 학교 교육과정에서의 국제이해교육의 위상, 제7차 교육과정에서의 국제이해교육 등을 검토하였다. 그리고 이러한 논의를 토대로 관련 교과에의 통합교육의 강화 등과 같은 향후 교육과정 개혁을 통한 국제이해교육 발전의 방향을 제시하였다.

영어 초록

Recently, almost all countries drive to reform school curriculum as a pivotal of educational reform. This paper is concerned with globalization which propels each country's educational reform and curriculum change.
Nowadays, globalization is a ubiquatous phenomena in the world wide, and that are emerging as a challenge to education sector. Each country tries to adapt education system to the new global environment. The one direction of educational reform in a globalized society is focused on ‘education for international competitiveness'. For example, U. S. education-ists emphasize the importance of students' recognition about worldwide issues in order for maintaining their influences to other countries. Also under-developed and developing countries emphasize the globalization in education for their survival in current international environments. The other direction of educational reform in a globalized society is focused on ‘education for international understanding'.
But this kind of educational reform is not activated until now, in spite of the necessity of education for international understanding in a increasing interdependency between countries.
In this paper, I proposed the direction and content of education for international understanding in the globalized society. Effects of globalization, inter-cultrural understanding, human rights, and sustainable development must be included in school curriculum for international understanding. And I proposed also how we could reform school curriculum for enhancing the status of education for international understanding in school. In order to enforcing the education for international understanding in school, integration this content to all subjects and allotting special time for education for international understanding is needed.
