이 연구는 읽기·쓰기 통합 프로그램을 활용한 독후 논설문 쓰기 방안을 개발하여 2008년 3월부터 5월까지 5학년 학생에게 적용하고 독후 논설문 쓰기 양상을 기술하였다. 이 프로그램의 절차는 선정도서 읽기, 논제 정하기, 생각 꺼내기, 생각 묶기, 초고쓰기 및 교정하기, 완성글 쓰기 단계로 구성된다. 이 프로그램을 통해 단계별 글쓰기 양상과 완성된 독후 논설문의 양상을 분석하고 그 의미를 해석하였다.
첫째, 읽기·쓰기 통합 프로그램을 활용하여 독후 논설문의 ‘논제 정하기’ 활동을 한 결과 ‘선정 도서 주제와 관련된 논제 정하기’ 에서는 별 다른 변화가 없었지만 ‘독후 논설문 쓰기 논제로 적합한 문장 표현’ 에서는 평가 결과가 크게 향상 되었으며 매우 긍정적인 영향을 끼쳤다.
둘째, 읽기·쓰기 통합 프로그램을 활용한 쓰기 지도는 논설문 쓰는 방법을 모르거나 어려워하는 학생들에게 체계적이고 단계적으로 독후 논설문 쓰기 지도가 이루어졌으며 그 결과 학생들 텍스트에 긍정적인 효과를 가져왔다. 특히 프로그램 실행 전 1차 글에서는 주제 의식이 불분명한 글쓰기가 이루어지고, 자기 주장에 대한 타당하고 논리적인 근거를 제시하지 못하였으며, 글의 내용과 부합되는 적절한 제목을 정하지 못하였는데, 이를 활용한 쓰기 지도 후 2차 글에서는 주제의 선명성, 논리 구조의 적절성, 제목의 적절성, 적절한 문장 표현 부문에서 글 수준이 크게 향상되었다.

영어 초록

This study aims at establishing the direction and approach for teaching the literature skills by investigating the argumentative writing modalities of elementary students after reading a book or an article.
Hence, integration teaching program of reading and writing is developed for elementary students of fifth grade. Then, the stepwise modality of the development of argumentative writing after reading a book is examined so as to identify the change in the text of the literature discourse written by them after the introduction of the proposed teaching program. The research was conducted between March to May 2008.
The result of the research is summarized as follows.
Firstly, the discourse teaching program on the ‘selection of the theme’ did not affect the area of ‘selecting the theme related to pre－selected literature theme’ but had a great improvement in the area of ‘expression of the sentence fit for the theme of discourse writing after the reading.’ Overall, it had a very positive effect on student's writing ability to express his/her thesis.
Secondly, the teaching program for literature discourse writing made it possible for the students who did not know or had difficulty in how to write to write systematically and step by step. The result was very positive as evidenced by the text of the student's writing. Especially, such problems as writing of unclear thesis, incapability of suggesting the rational and logical basis for the student's thesis, and incapability of selecting the title appropriate for the content of the student's writing were noted from the first draft writing prior to the implementation of the teaching program for discourse writing. However, after its implementation, the level of writing skills in t he a reas of clarity of t he t heme, appropriateness of t he l og ical structure of the writing, appropriateness of the title, appropriate sentence expression was greatly improved.
