평북 강계에서 전승되는 <일월노리푸념>과 함남 함흥에서 전승되는 <돈전풀이>와 <궁
상이굿>은 한 어리석은 인물이 아내를 걸고 내기장기를 두어 져서 아내를 빼앗겼으나 아내
의 현명한 지략에 힘입어 부부가 재결합한다는 공통의 이야기를 담고 있는 서사무가이다.
이러한 내용은 설화에 두루 존재하는 ‘아내 잃고 다시 찾기’ 서사유형인데 󰡔고려사󰡕에 기록
된 <禮成江>, 백제의 <도미처설화> 그리고 <우렁각시>의 일부 하위유형과 공통점이 있다.
본고에서는 <일월노리푸념>을 대상으로 각편의 변이양상을 검토하고 유사설화와 비교하면
서 설화의 서사무가의 관계를 검토하였다. 이어서 일월신이 어떤 신이며 일월이 의미하는
바가 무엇인지를 일월신과 관련된 무속자료를 두루 검토하여 밝히고 서사구조를 분석하여
가정신화적 성격을 검토함과 동시에 구비서사시로서의 문학성을 논하였다.
무속의식에서 ‘日月’이란 말이 들어가는 굿거리로는 <일월노리푸념>이외에 김금화의 <일
월맞이굿>과 부산시 기장군 죽성리의 <일월맞이굿>, 경남 울산시 동구 일산동에서 행한 별
신굿중 <일월거리>, 그리고 제주도 조상본풀이들 중 <현씨일월본> 등 6개가 있다. 김금화
의 <일월맞이굿>은 해와 달의 신이면서 巫의 祖宗神을 맞이하는 굿이고 부산 죽성리의 <일
월맞이굿>과 울산 일산동의 <일월거리>는 󰡔삼국유사󰡕에 기록된 <延烏郞 細烏女> 설화와 관련이 있다는 점에서 일본으로 간 세오녀가 보낸 細綃를 받아 迎日縣에서 지낸 日月祭에서
유래하여 오늘날까지 전승되는 무속의례로 해석하였다. 제주도 <조상풀이>에 들어있는 일월
의 의미는 ‘始祖’나 ‘조상’임이 드러났다. 이처럼 조상이 된 남녀 부부가 해와 달과 관련이 있
음은 <創世歌>나 <牟頭婁墓誌>의 기록 등을 통해 확인되었다. <창세가>에서 인류시원을 이
야기하는 대목에서 해와 달의 정기인 금벌레와 은벌레가 자라서 남녀로 변하고 이들이 부부
가 되어 인류의 조상이 되었다고 한 것과 고구려 시조 주몽의 부모가 일월로 되어있다는 점
등을 통해 일월신은 始祖가 된 부부를 가리키는 조상신임을 알 수 있었다.
또한 <일월노리푸념>은 夫婦敍事로 이루어진 <성조본가>, <성주푸리>, <세경본풀이>
등과 공통된 서사구조를 가지는데 혼례를 통한 가정의 탄생에서 부부의 분리와 재결합으로
형상화된 가정의 시련과 극복을 보여주는 가정신화적 구조를 가지고 있다. 이는 부부가 가
정의 가장 핵심이고 부부중심의 가족관이 반영된 것으로서 가부장제 사회의 부자중심의 가
족관과는 다른 것으로 주목하였다.

영어 초록

Ilwolnoripunyeom, told in Ganggye, North Pyeongan Province, and
Donjeonpuri and Gungsangigut, told in Hamheung, South Hamgyeong
Province, are narrative shaman songs that tell a common story of a foolish
character who bets his wife on a game of Korean chess and loses her, but
is later reunited with her thanks to the wife's wise resourcefulness. This is
a narrative type that exists in many tales and is known as “losing and regaining
a wife,” and it shares commonalities with some sub-types in Yeseonggang,
recorded in The History of Goryeo, Tale of Domi's wife recorded in The
Historical Record of the Three Kingdoms , and the folk tale Ureonggaksi.
This paper examined the aspects of change in different versions of
Ilwolnoripunyeom and also examined the relationship of the tale to narrative
shaman songs through a comparison with similar tales. Next, the paper
thoroughly examined shamanic materials related to the sun and moon (“ilwol”)
deities to determine what sort of deities they are and what the sun and moon
signify, and then discussed the work's domestic mythological character and
literariness as an oral narrative poem through an analysis of its narrative
structure.
In addition to Ilwolnoripunyeom, there are six shamanic rituals that contain the term “ilwol” (“sun and moon”) in their title. These include Kim Geumhwa's
Ilwolmajigut, the Ilwolmajigut of Jukseong-ri, Gijang-gun, Busan, the
Ilwolgeori of Ilsan-dong, Dong-gu, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province, and
the Jeju Island bonpuri ritual of “Hyeonssiilwolbon.” Kim Geumhwa's
Ilwolmajigut is a ritual for welcoming the deities of the sun and moon, which
are also the founding deities of shamanism；the Ilwolmajigut of Busan and
the Ilwolgeori of Ulsan are related to the tale of Yeonorang and Seonyeo
recorded in Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms, and on this basis they were
interpreted to be shamanic rituals that originated with sun and moon rites
performed for Yeonorang and Seonyeo in Yeongil-hyeon. In the Jeju Island
bonpuri ritual, the sun and moon refer to progenitors or ancestors. It was
confirmed in records such as Changsega and The Epitaph of Moduru that
the husband and wife ancestral pairs are related to the sun and the moon.
In the passage in Changsega that discusses the origins of humanity, gold and
silver larvae that represented the sun and moon grew into men and women
who married and became the ancestors of humanity, and in the myth of
Goguryeo progenitor Jumong, Jumong is the descendant of the sun and moo
n；passages such as these show that the sun and moon deities are ancestral
deities that refer to the original husband and wife.
In addition, Ilwolnoripunyeom has a narrative structure similar to the
husband-and-wife narratives of Seongjobonga, Seongjupuri, and Segyeongbonpuri,
and it has a domestic mythological structure that depicts the birth of the family
through marriage followed by domestic trials and the overcoming of those
trials through the separation and reunion of the couple. Particular attention
was paid to this aspect, as it is a reflection of a husband-and-wife-centered
view of families and thus different from the father-and-son-centered view of families characteristic of patriarchal societies.
