본 연구는 아동의 욕구좌절특성에 따른 나무그림검사 반응특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 대상은 서울특별시 소재 1개, 대구광역시 소재 1개의 초등학교에 재학 중인 2학년부터 6학년에 이르는 387명이며 그림좌절검사와 나무그림검사는 연구자와 사전 검사에 대한 목적과 실시방법에 대한 교육을 받은 각반 담임이 2009년 6월 23일부터 7월 10일까지 실시하였으며, 검사 소요시간은 40~50분이었다. 회수된 자료 403부에서 두 가지 검사를 완료한 387부만을 분석 자료로 이용하였다. 그림좌절검사에서는 채점된 프로파일에서 공격방향(외벌형, 내벌형, 무벌형)과 반응유형(장애우위형, 자아방어형, 요구고집형)을 사용했으며, 나무그림검사의 채점지표는 7개 지표(18개 요소)로 구성하였다. 자료 분석은 교차분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 첫째, 초등학생의 욕구좌절 시 공격방향과 반응유형은 성별차이는 없었으나 학년에 따라서는 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 그러나 남․녀 모두 외벌형이 가장 많고, 그 다음이 자아방어형으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초등학생의 나무그림 반응특성은 성별에서는 1개 요소, 학년에서는 14개 요소에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 욕구좌절특성에 따른 초등학생의 나무그림 반응특성에서는 공격방향은 5개 요소(옹이 수, 가지 끝부분, 수관모양, 수관강조, 열매부착)에서, 반응유형에서는 9개 요소(관․줄기의 균형, 줄기개폐여부, 수관속 가지, 가지모양, 가지 선, 가지 유무, 가지 끝부분, 수관모양, 열매부착)에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다.

영어 초록

This study examined characteristics of children’s responses to frustrationon the Tree Drawing Test.
Participants were three-hundred and eighty-six children(grades 2 through 6) at two elementary schools, one in the city of Seoul and the other inthe city of Daegu. The Tree Drawing Test and Picture-Frustration Study were administered to the students from June 23rd, 2009 to July 10, 2009 by their homeroom teachers, who were informed of the purposesof the tests and received training from the researcher on how to conduct the tests. Data collection took 40 to 50 minutes. A total of four hundred and three sheets of the tests were collected, but only three hundred eighty six sheets on which the students completed both tests were chosen as data for this study. In the Picture-Frustration study, the students’ responses on the tests were scored on two factors: the direction of aggression(Extrapunitiveness, Intropunitiveness, and Impunitiveness) and the types of reaction(Obstacle-Dominance, Ego-Defense, and Need-Persistence). The students’ responses on the Tree Drawing Test were scored on 7 categories(18 factors). A cross tabulation was conducted on the data.
First, the results showed no significant gender differences as to the direction of aggression and types of reaction from the participants, but significant differences were found across the school grades.
Extrapunitiveness was most common in both male and female participants, followed by Ego-Defense.
Second, the results of the Tree Drawing test showed significant gender differences on one factor and no significant across-grade differences on fourteen factors. Third, in the Tree Drawing Test, significant differences as to the direction of aggression were found on five factors(the number of knars, branch end, the crown shape, emphasis on the crown, fruit attaching). As to the types of reaction, significant differences were found on nine factors(the balance of the crown and trunk, trunk openness and closedness, branches in the crown, branch shapes, branch line, branch existence, branch end, crown shapes, fruit attaching)
