The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of a group counseling program for career exploration, based on multiple intelligences for adolescents with latent delinquency. The subjects were twenty four
adolescents students at Daesin Boys' Middle School, Busan city, with latent delinquency. They were
randomly assigned into experiment and control groups with twelve students per group. In order to verify
the effectiveness of this program, self-esteem and career attitude maturity tests were carried out twice to
both the experimental and the control groups, two days before and after the program. SPSS/PC+12.0 was
applied in the data processing and the data was analyzed by ANCOVA. The results of this study are as
follows: First, the experimental group showed a significant increase on their scores in the self-esteem test
compared with those of the control group, who did not participate in the program. Second, the
experimental group showed a significant increase on their scores on the career attitude maturity test
compared with those of the control group who did not participate in the program. According to the
results of this study, it was proven that this program was effective in improving self-esteem, hope and
career attitude maturity for adolescents with latent delinquency. The implications of this study were
discussed within the group counseling program on career exploration based on multiple intelligences and
through its positive results.
