Abstract

한국어 초록

유치원 학습활동에서의 컴퓨터 활용에 관한 국내연구가 초기단계인 반면에 유아교육기관의 컴퓨터 도입은 급증하는 추세이다. 따라서 국내 유아교육기관에서의 컴퓨터 활용의 바람직한 방향의 토대를 위하여 본 논문은 유아의 컴퓨터 사용에 관한 주요 찬반의 논란 및 컴퓨터 사용이 사회 정서， 인지 ， 신체발달에 미치는 영향을 고찰하고， 그 발달적 적합성에 따른 교육적 시사점에 대해 논의하였다. 대다수의 선행연구자들은 컴퓨터가 발달적으로 적합한 유아교육 프로그램을 위한 유망한 교구로 활용될 수 있다는 것을 지지하며 ， 최근의 논제는 컴퓨터 사용의 유해성 여부가 아니라 효과적이면서 바람직한 그 활용방법에 관한 것이다. 교사의 컴퓨터 교육활동에 대한 무조건적 거부냐 맹목적인 사용은 바람직하지 못하다. 국내 연구가 미흡한 현시점에서 ， 첨단 과학기술 문명시대의 새 교구로 등장한 컴퓨터 활용에 대한 교사들의 올바른 인식과 태도가 요구된다.

영어 초록

Computers are being integrated increasingly into early childhood programs in Korea, while there are still a few studies on the use of computers with young children in the country. Question arises concerning educators' readiness to bring computers into the early childhood classroom.
If educators are not knowledgeable about the use of microcomputers with young children, they will be building on a shaky foundation. Thus the following discussion summarizes some of the current research about computer use and young children, its pros and cons view and the impact of microcomputer on the social emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children In addition, the educational implications are discussed for the developmental appropriateness of computer use in the classroom.
Most research on computers for young children has supported that the microcomputer can be useful for young children with developmentally appropriate experiences. It seems that whether or not the computer will be used with young children is not in question anymore, but rather how it can most effectively be used. Educators of young children should neither abuse computer nor refuse it in their classroom.
In Korea, many issues need to be clarified as more early education centers on attempts to integrate computers into their classroom environment. It is time for educators not to be bent on placing computers in their classroom but to argue for determining whether and how the microcomputer can be made interesting, appropriate, and useful for young children.
