The purpose of the this study was to investigate the effect of hope and ego-identityon career decision-making self-efficacy and career attitude maturity. Participants of
this research were 305 college students sampled from the universities in Seoul.
Results are summarized as follows. First, career decision-making self-efficacy was
predicted by confirmativeness for future, initiativeness out of sub-factors of self
identity while career attitude maturity was predicated by only confirmativeness for
future. Second, one who cherished the higher level of hope had the higher level of
career decision-making self-efficacy and career attitude maturity. Moreover, career
decision-making self-efficacy and career attitude maturity was predicted by
initiativeness and pathway thinking out of sub-factors of hope. Third, this study was
identified that the unexplainable variation of ego-identity on career decision-making
self-efficacy and career attitude maturity could be predicted by hope as its effect on
career decision-making self-efficacy and career attitude maturity was found in spite
of controlling the effect of ego-identity. In addition to it, career decision-making
self-efficacy could be much more predicted by hope than by ego-identity while
career attitude maturity could be much more predicted by ego-identity than by hope.
