Many Multi-cultural families experience difficulties in their child rearing process. This study was started on
the question that how multi-cultural families experience social readjustment and child rearing and what the
policies and services of Family Welfare Practice are needed for them. The purpose of this study is to
give some directions for social welfare practice services especially in rearing children of female marriage
immigrants or immigrants from North Korea. The data has been analyzed by qualitative research method
through interviewing participants using qualitative case study research method. 8 pilot items were collected
from 2 focus group interviews with a purposive sample group of 16 people. The 8 theme clusters are
‘culture, communication’, ‘education information, mentor’, ‘economic vulnerability’, ‘employment support’,
‘child rearing support’, ‘human resources’, ‘identity, magnanimity’, ‘support in education of female
marriage immigrants or immigrants of North Korea’. Based on the results, some suggestions are presented
to improve social work policies and practical intervention services.
