Nowadays, school education around the world does only convey knowledge but carries out the education connected with a knowledge of humanity as well. In other word, structural reform from science-centered educational process to human-centered educational process is emphasized where importance to the curriculum if art is attached in its perception. Even though it may be a matter of course that human centered education is not entirely expected of education in the department of art alone, since education in the department if art, unlike other curriucula, is the learning activity performed emphasis on personal traits and self-emotion, if is believed that the education of art can come closer to the objective of education, education for the who man, as the eligible curriculum capable of improving the learner’s personality, thinking and creativity, The art education of our country is standing in a historic transitional peried to cope with the future society of the 21th century(creation of new Korea).Accordingly, taking into consideration all the conditions of our country. The Foture education of art will have to require the directional transformation of art education in itself, namely, one reformation of art education and the transformation of its perception, not the partial modification or art education through the professional and objective judgement of art education.
As a matter of fact, the Ministry of Education, art educator 2.~d majors in art have continued to make constant endeavors to find out the best way to the art education of our country in respects of its system and policy through a great many changes and reformation in art education up to now, but the art education of our country has contained several problems in respects of its operation and management on accoun of institutional, financial and environmental defects.
As a consequence, the education of art, ranging from kindergarten education to elementary, middle and high school education, has fallen into the subject despised and attaching disproportionate importance to form.
In particular, the present situation is that the middle and high schools are not carrying out the normal education of art as they are thinking lightly of the curriculum of art and performing the education centered around an admission examination to a higher school. This demonstrates that several problems have taken place since the excellent system and policy of art education is not fitting the reality of the education 0' our country and some of the social conditions.
In the fut ure, we will have to break a way from the uniform element of old-fashioned concepts like this, carry to execution the education of art that attempts the culture of sentiments and the Formation of manity, to put it in detail, children and students themselves put art in practice and need to transform the recognition of art education so as to formulate the genuine atmosphere of art education(the climate of art education) which attempts to help them form humanity on the basis on diversity in such the process.
This thesis is aimed at making an attempt to renew the consciousness of the education of art by elucicatment the comparision plan on the fifth curriculum improvement proposal and the sixth curriculum improvement proposal end their problems with emphasis on the education of art in the elementary school, middle school, and high school through the perception of the importance of school education,
To help the reader gain an entire undersanding of this thesis first of all, this t:,esis my an inquiry into the concept of the education of art and the history of the education of art in our country in developing this study. Moreover, this thesis made a suggestion of the present situation of the education of art and its problem and made a attempt to probe for the scheme of the improvement from diverse angles.
This thesis made an attempt to throw light on kindergarten education and lifelong education in addition, taking into consideration their importance and their linkage with art.
Finally, an attempt was made to come up with the improvement plan on the admission examination system executed in 1994 as well as the changes and characteristics of the policy related with the art school admission examination system.
In the process of progressing this thesis, it would like to be made clear that a considerable number of uses were made of disseriations and special works written by the researchers related to the education of art and the curriculum of art mapped out by the Ministry of Education as reference materials.
