그림감상에 의한 통찰의 가능성 : 르네 마그리트의 작품을 중심으로

본 연구는 청소년을 대상으로 한 그림감상을 활용한 미술치료에 있어, 치료목표와 심리문제에 적합한 그림
선택이 필요하다는 판단으로 실시하게 되었다. 연구의 목적은 미술활동을 통한 자기치유의 주요 모델로 여겨지
는 초현실주의 화가 르네 마그리트의 그림감상에 의한 청소년의 통찰 가능성을 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼
저 르네 마그리트의 작품분석으로 이루어진 83편의 문헌을 대상으로 미술치료요인 ‘통찰’이 내재된 그림 4점을
분류하고, 이에 대한 연구자들의 작품분석 내용을 정리하였다. 다음으로 분류된 그림에 대해 고등학생 183명과
대학생 119명을 대상으로 한 그림감상 후 평가를 설문조사하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 연구결과 고등학생과 대
학생은 4점의 그림에서 다소 차이는 있으나 그림 모두에서 통찰을 느끼고 있으며, 고등학생, 대학생 두 집단
사이에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 또한 고등학생, 대학생 모두 남성보다는 여성이 그림에서
통찰을 더 많이 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 대학생의 전공에 따른 통찰반응을 살펴보면 이공계와 의학전공보다는
인문사회전공자가 그림에서 통찰을 더 많이 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 청소년을 대상으로
한 미술치료에서 르네 마그리트의 그림감상은 통찰의 기회를 제공하여 미술치료의 치료과정을 돕고 목표를 이
루는데 주요한 방안으로 자리매김 할 수 있음을 제시하였다.

영어 초록

This study is related to the treatment of the fine arts, particularly through the method of painting
appreciation by adolescents. In this process, the researcher realized that it is significant for the therapist to
select the appropriate choice of paintings for the effective treatment of the problems of those who are
treated. The heart of the study confirms whether there is the possibility of insight by adolescents when
they appreciate the paintings of Rene Magritte, a famous surrealism painter, whose works are regarded as
an important model of self-healing through the activity of the fine arts. To achieve this purpose, first of all,
the researcher studied on the eighty three articles which deal with the analysis of the works of Rene
Magritte and chose his four paintings which implies the factor of ‘insight,’ a way of treatment in the fine
arts. Second, after selecting experimental groups of 183 high schoolers and 119 college students, the
researcher asked them if they can appreciate something from the four paintings of Rene Magritte with the
following of a survey on the evaluation of their appreciation. Then the researcher analyzed the results of
the survey. According to the analysis of the survey result, although there were more or less different
response to the four paintings, everyone felt ‘insight’ from the four paintings, and in particular, there was
no age gap in response to the four paintings, which means not only the high school students but also the
college students were able to appreciate the factor of insight. However, as some of the interesting points, it
is discovered that the female students of both high school and college feel much more insight than the
male students do, and for the college students, the students of the human and social sciences feel more
insight than those of the natural science and technology do. Therefore, the researcher argues that the
appreciation of the paintings of Rene Magritte for the case of adolescents provides an opportunity of insight
and this way of treatment can be an important method in assisting and supporting the process of the
treatment in the fine arts.
