한국어 초록

대구광역시에 근무하는 초등학교 교사를 대상으로 독서 동기에 대한 인식과 지도
실태를 알아보는 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 대부분의 교사가 초등학생의 독서 동기
지도의 중요성을 인식하고 있었지만 그 구체적인 지도 내용이나 방법을 충분히 인식
하지는 못하고 있었다. 초등학생의 독서 동기에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요소로 호기
심과 몰입 요인을 들었으나, 그 지도 실행 역시 가장 어려운 것으로 응답하였다. 또
독서 동기 신장을 위한 담임교사의 역할 중 가장 중요한 것으로 ‘독서 과제 제시나
규칙적인 독서 시간 운영’을 꼽았는데, 현재 학교나 교육청에 지원 요구 사항으로
독서 지도 시간 확보를 요구하였다. 이는 현재 초등학교 교사들이 독서 지도를 위한
시간 부족으로 독서지도를 충분히 하지 못하고 있는 실정임을 드러내는 결과이다.
독서 동기의 요인별 지도 실태 조사에서 교사의 독서 지도에 대한 자기 평가 결과
가 높을수록 여러 가지 독서 동기 요인을 고려하면서 지도하고 있다고 응답하였다.
독서 동기 요인별로 볼 때 교사들은 대체로 호기심이나 몰입 요인을 인식하고 더
많이 지도하지만 효능감, 도전심, 회피 요인은 소홀히 다루고 있다. 또 독서 동기
지도에서 중요성 요인과 성적 요인은 인정 요인이나 경쟁 요인에 비해 월등하게 적극
적으로 지도하고 있었다. 특히 독서 동기의 회피 요인에 대한 지도는 거의 이루어지
지 않고 있어 독서 동기 요인에 대한 교사들의 인식 확장이 요구됨을 알 수 있었다.

영어 초록

This study surveyed and analyzed teachers’ recognition and instruction
realities on a reading motivation of elementary school students. Accordingly,
the aim was to arrange basic data for considering the present status,
problem, and solution of students’ reading motivation instruction in the
reading education field.
A questionnaire survey was carried out, which examined the actual
condition of recognition and instruction on the reading motivation targeting
elementary-school teachers who work in Daegu Metropolitan City. Most of
teachers were recognizing importance of reading-motivation instruction for
elementary school students, but were failing to fully recognize its specific
instructional contents or method. The element, which has the greatest
influence upon reading motivation of elementary school students, was taken
the curiosity and immersion factors, but was responded as saying of being
the most difficult even in executing its instruction. Also, what is most
important out of homeroom teacher’s role for strengthening reading
motivation was selected ‘the suggestion of reading task or the operation
of regular reading time.’ As the current requirement for support to school
or the Office of Education, the security of the reading instruction time was demanded. This is a result of revealing the real situation that the currently
elementary school teachers fail to fully perform the reading instruction due
to the lack of time for the reading instruction.
In a survey of the actual condition for instruction by factor of reading
motivation, teachers could be confirmed to be instructing with considering
several reading-motivation factors in the higher self-evaluation result on
reading instruction. This is also a part available for confirming that
teacher’s passion is the greatest instructional content and method in the
reading-motivation instruction. Seeing by reading-motivation factor, the
teachers instruct more with mostly recognizing curiosity or immersion factor,
but are relatively negligently addressing efficacy and challenge factors. Also,
in the reading-motivation instruction, the importance factor and the
score-improvement factor in reading were being guided superiorly and
positively compared to the recognition factor or competition factor from
other person. Especially, the instruction on avoidance factor in the reading
motivation is almost not being performed. Thus, it could be known that
teachers’ expansion in recognition is demanded for reading-motivation
factor. Even in the instructional contents or method of reading motivation,
the activity or content, which is specifically connected directly with reading
motivation, was being made superficially without being designed.
