The study was to examine the effectiveness and feasibility of teaching model to minimize an alienation and toimprove an effectiveness and participation in inclusive physical education class(IPE) for elementary school
students with intellectual disabilities(ID). To accomplish this purpose, case study based on mixed methodology
was used. This research was conducted at C elementary school in Seoul metropolitan area. Video
observation(physical activity level and social interaction), pre-pro test about physical self-description and
attitude toward IPE were performed. t-test and ANOVA were used where appropriate. Additionally,
qualitative data collection method was used. The findings could be summarized as follows: IPE based on
teaching model increased physical activity level, social interaction, and physical self-description of students
with and without ID. It was found that an attitude toward IPE of students with and without ID and teacher
was positively changed and an alienation of students with ID was decreased through IPE based on teaching
model. In summary, it revealed that teaching model for IPE not only decreased an alienation for students
with ID but also do not influence task participation of students without ID in IPE.
