본 연구는 아동 및 부모의 사회인구학적 변인에 따라 영유아 발달에 차이가 있는지, 그리고
어떠한 변인이 영향을 미치는지를 구체적으로 분석해 보고자 하였다. 영아용으로는 BAYLEY 영
유아 발달 검사, 유아용으로는 WPPSI 유아지능 검사, PPVT 그림어휘력 검사를 모두 개별적으로
실시하였다. 연구 대상으로는 울산대학교에서 위탁 운영하고 있는 5개 보육시설(국공립 1개소,
직장 4개소) 영유아 총 309명(남아: 161명, 여아: 148명)과 그들의 어머니였다. 연구 결과 첫째,
아동 변인(성별, 연령, 출생순위) 중 성별에서는 여아가 남아보다 PPVT 백분위가 높고, 연령이
높을수록 BAYLEY 인지와 WPPSI 동작성이 높았으며, 첫째가 둘째보다 WPPSI 언어성과 WPPSI
총점 모두에서 평균 6점 정도 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 부모 변인(부모 연령, 부모 학력, 부모 직업,
소득) 중 부모 연령에 따라서는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았고, 부학력이 높을수록 WPPSI 언어
성, WPPSI 총점이 높고, 모학력이 높을수록 WPPSI 언어성, WPPSI 총점, PPVT 백분위가 높게
나타났다. 부모 직업이 사무직 또는 전문직일수록 자영기능인이나 자영상인보다 WPPSI 언어성
과 WPPSI 총점이 높은 것으로 나타났고, 소득이 높을수록 WPPSI 언어성, WPPSI 총점, PPVT 백
분위가 높게 나타났다. 셋째, BAYLEY 동작을 제외한 모든 발달이 아동 및 부모 변인에 영향을
받는 것으로 나타났다. BAYLEY 인지는 아동의 연령, WPPSI 언어성은 출생순위와 부학력, 부직
업, WPPSI 동작성은 아동 연령이 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. WPPSI 총점에서는 아동의
연령, 출생순위, 부학력, PPVT 백분위는 성별이 영향을 미치는 요인이었다. 본 연구에서 연령은
영아기 발달보다는 유아기 발달에서 더 많은 차이를 보여주었고, 출생 순위는 둘째보다 첫째일
때 유리하였다. 특히 어머니 변인이 영유아 발달에 중요한 변인이라고 본 선행연구들과는 달리
아버지 학력과 직업이 영유아 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났다.

영어 초록

The purpose of the research was to examined whether the development of babies may depends
on their parents' demographic variables and identity what factors may affect that of babies. We
tested abilities of babies individually by BAYLEY, WPPSI, and PPVT. The subjects of this study
were 309 babies(boies: 161, girls: 148) who were members of five daycare-services centers,
managed by University of Ulsan, and their mothers. The results were the followers: First, of
babies' variables(sex, age, order-birth), in the percentile of PPVT girls was higher the boys. As
older. the babies had higher on the cognition scores of BABLEY and the performance IQ scores
of WPPSI. And on the Verbal IQ scores full IQ scores of WPPSI, the first order babies were
higher than the second-birth order ones. Second, of parents' variables(age, education. income), we
could not find out significantly difference in parents' education variable. However, as father's
educational level was higher, their baby was higher on Verbal and Full IQ scores of WPPSI. And
as mother's educational level was higher, their baby was higher on Verbal and Full IQ scores of
WPPSI and the percentile of PPVT. On occupational variable, the baby whose parents' job was of
white-color ones was higher on Verbal and Full IQ scores and than one whose parents' job was
of blue-color ones. Third, babies' developmental levels, tested by WPPSI and PPVT, were affected
by babies' and parents' variables. The Cognition score of BABLEY was affected by baby's age,
Verbal IQ score was affected by baby's birth-order and father's education, and Performance IQ
score did by baby's age. Full IQ score of WPPSI was influenced by baby's age, birth-order,
father's education, and the percentile of PPVT was did only by baby's sex. In summary, this
results suggested that as older, baby had some advantages in development levels. And the
first-order baby got benefits in compare with the second birth-order one. In particular, the previous
studies, which reported babies' abilities affected by mother's variables but this research was identified
that baby's development was affected by father's occupation and education variables.
