미국 교사 자격 기준안을 통한 우리나라 중등 과학 교사 1차 선발고사 문항의 분석

교육의질을결정하는우수한교사를양성하고선발하는기능은교사교육의핵심이며이에따라우리나라에서도교사임용시험의중요성은누구나인정하는부분이다. 특히교사임용시험은교사
를선발하는목적적인기능외에도임용시험에서의출제빈도와내용들이예비과학교사에게교사
전문성을이해하고학습하는과정이라는점에서그중요성이크다.이와같은중요성에따라본연
구는2008학년도부터2013학년도까지지난6년간우리나라중등과학교사임용시험의객관식문항
을 미국의 NSTA와 NCATE이 제안한 과학교사준비를 위한 기준요소(Standards for Science
Teacher Preparation, 2003, 2012)와TEA(Texas Education Agency)의교사자격시험인TExES
(Texas Examinations of Educator Standards, 2013)에서 제시하는 과학교사 기준틀(Science
Educator Standards)을바탕으로한9가지기준요소로분석하여우리나라중등과학교사선발시험
에서중요하게평가하고있는요소와상대적으로간과되고있는요소들을보고자하였다.분석결
과로는우리나라중등과학교사선발요소는과학의본성(Nature of Science),탐구(Inquiry),교육
학이론(Pedagogical Theories),그리고교과과정(Curriculum)에대한내용을전체임용시험의약
90%의비중으로강조하여평가하고있으며,반면에실험실안전및윤리(Safety&Ethics),과학,
기술 및 사회의 관계(STS: Science, Technology and Society), 과학 교육 공학(Tools and
Technology), 그리고통합영역(Integration)등은거의간과되고있는것으로관찰되었다. 시대의
변화와교육의변화라는요구에따라서교사교육및평가의변화또한요구되고있다. 21세기에들
어서창의적이고통합적인교과과정을제시하고있는시점에서시대의요구를반영한수준높은교
사전문성의양성을위하여우리나라중등과학교사임용시험에서도구체적이고 체계적인교사선
발기준안과임용시험출제영역을제시하고그것에근거하여최신과학교과교육이론등을포함
한다양한내용요소들의평가가이루어질필요가있다.
영어 초록
Given the great impact of teachers on the quality of education, much attention has beenplaced on the evaluation of effectiveness for teacher preparation programs. As such, no one
denies the importance of the teacher selection examination in Korea. This is because not only
(does) the examination is to select teachers for the classrooms, but it also influences significantly
the curriculum and instruction in teacher preparation programs in colleges. This study analyzed
the test items of science PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge) that were included in the
primary examinations of 2008 to 2013 for recruiting secondary school science teachers in Korea
using the Standards for Science Teacher Preparation (NSTA & NCATE, 2003, 2012) and the
Texas Examinations of Educator Standards [TExES] (TEA, 2013). The findings show that while
some of the standards such as the nature of science (NOS), inquiry, pedagogical theories, and
curriculum have been emphasized on the examinations, other important standards including
safety & ethics, STS, tools & technology and integration have been ignored. Currently, since the
innovative education has been launched in the curriculum and instruction along with the new
goals of education in Korea, there is a great need for the innovation of teacher education
programs including research-based standards for the examination in order to reflect the current
goals and emphasis in education.
