Paradise Lost is one of the famous works which stories are based on Bible. It was 1667 that the first edition of Paradise Lost was published which consists of 10 books. After it was modified, the second edition was completely published as 12 books in 1674. John Milton was an English poet, man of letters, and a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England which was controlled by Oliver Cromwell. In his early life, he was influenced by his father who was a devout Puritan. Thus his faith in Puritan influenced some of his literary works. As one of Puritans, he was against King Charles I. However, even though King Charles I was executed, the monarchy was restored later in 1660 and the Commonwealth was disintegrated rapidly. During that time, he lost his eyesight for physical aging. Paradise Lost is the work which was written when John Milton was blind and lived in seclusion. His freedom of faith was lost by the Restoration, his eyesight was also lost by aging but his will to advocate Puritanism was never lost by anyone.
