본 연구에서는 영아의 어휘력 발달에 대한 영아의 의사소통적 몸짓과 어머니 양육행동의 관계 및 영향
력을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 전라북도 J시, I시, G시에 소재한 보육시설의 10~24개월 영아
219명과 어머니이다. 연구결과는 첫째, 영아의 의사소통적 몸짓과 영아의 어휘력은 전체적으로 정적
상관관계가 있었다. 둘째, 어머니 양육행동과 영아의 어휘력은 전체적으로 정적 상관관계가 있었다.
셋째, 영아의 의사소통적 몸짓과 어머니의 양육행동에 따른 어휘력의 영향력을 알아 본 결과, 이해어
휘는 표상적 몸짓과 지시적 몸짓, 교수적 양육행동, 긍정한계선 설정 양육행동, 관습적 몸짓의 순으
로 나타났고, 표현어휘는 표상적 몸짓, 지시적 몸짓, 교수적 양육행동의 순으로 나타났다. 영아의 어
휘력에 대한 영아의 의사소통적 몸짓과 어머니 양육행동의 영향력에서는 표상적 몸짓이 가장 큰 변인
이었다. 영아의 어휘력에는 어머니의 양육행동보다 영아의 의사소통적 몸짓이 더 큰 영향력이 있는
변인임이 밝혀졌다.

영어 초록

The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of infant-toddler communicative gestures and
maternal parenting behaviors on infant-toddler vocabulary and the relation between them. The study
was conducted with 219 infant-toddler from 10 to 24 months old and their mothers of nursing
facilities in J, I, and G cities, Jeollabukdo. The results of the study are as follows. First, there was
generally positive correlation between infant-toddler communicative gestures and vocabulary. Second,
there was generally positive correlation between maternal parenting behaviors and infant-toddler
vocabulary. Third, according to the results of the study of infant-toddler communicative gestures and
maternal parenting behaviors on infant-toddler vocabulary, their receptive language was influenced by
representational gesture, indicative gesture, instructional parenting behavior, permit-threshold setting
parenting behavior, and conventional gesture in the order of intensity, and expressive language was
influenced by representational gesture, indicative gesture, and instructional parenting behavior in the
order of intensity. In the effects of infant-toddler communicative gestures and maternal parenting
behaviors on infant-toddler vocabulary, representational gesture was the greatest variable. It was
shown that infant-toddler communicative gestures had greater effects on infant-toddler vocabulary
than maternal parenting behaviors did.
