본 연구의 목적은 만 4, 5세 유아의 연령, 자아존중감 및 유아가 인식하는 모자애착에 대해 알아보고,그에 따른 또래 유능성에 미치는 영향은 어떠한지 알아보는데 있다. 연구대상은 경기도 소재 유치원
만 4세 유아 121명, 만 5세 유아 110명이다. 유아의 자아존중감 정도를 알아보기 위하여 단현국, 이미
숙(2006)이 개발한 척도를 사용하였고, 모자애착을 파악하기 위해 모자화분석을 하였으며, 유아의 또
래 유능성을 측정하기 위하여 박주희와 이은해(2001)가 번안한 교사용 또래 유능성 평가척도를 사용
하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 유아의 연령, 모자애착, 유아의 자아존중감과 유아의 또래 유능성과의 관계
를 살펴본 결과 유아의 또래 유능성은 모자애착, 유아의 자아존중감과 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 유
아의 연령, 모자애착, 유아의 자아존중감이 유아의 또래 유능성에 미치는 영향력에 대해 살펴본 결
과, 유아의 자아존중감 중 소속감, 통제감, 가치감, 연령이 유아의 또래 유능성에 영향을 미치는 것으
로 나타났다. 연구 결과 모자애착을 형성하는 유아의 초기 사회적 경험과 자아존중감이 유아의 또래
유능성에 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 따라서 어머니-유아 간 안정적인 애착형성은 중요하
고 교육현장에서 유아의 자아존중감 및 또래 유능성을 증진하기 위한 다양한 사회교육활동을 실천해
야 할 것이다.
영어 초록
The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between age, sex, self-esteem mother-childattachement and peer-competence of young children. The participants were 121 of 4 year-old children
and 110 of 5 year-old children. Instruments used in this study were the Mother-and-Child drawing
test with child attachment scale, Self-esteem scale for early-child, and Young children’
peer-competence checklist. Data were analyzed using a multiple regression with SPSS 19.0. The
findings are as follows. First, there were positive correlation between young children’ age, sex,
self-esteem, mother-and child attachment and peer-competence. Second, among the effect of young
children’ age, sex and self-esteem on peer-competence, especially sub factors such as sense of
belonging, self-regulation, self-worth and sex had on effect on self-competence of early-children. In
conclusion, this study let us know that the early-experience and self-esteem of young child with his
or her mother influenced to peer-competence of child. It is important to make an stable attachment
between mother and child. Also, Educational activities are needed to encourage young children’
self-esteem and peer-competence.
