We investigated the effect of age, height, weight and season on pulmonary function indexes in elderly persons. The average FEV1/FVC measure of male and female participants according to age were 66.9% and 69.9% respectively and FEV1/FVC measures decreased with increasing age. The average FVC measure of male and female participants according to weight and season were 79.3% and 91.9% respectively, and these results showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.01). FVC measures of man men increased with increasing weight and FVC measures in winter were larger than other seasons. In the case of FVC and FEV1/FVC measures according to weight by age, FVC measures showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05 in 51-55 years of age, 56-60 years of age and over 76 years of age, and p<0.01 in 61-65 years of age) and FEV1/FVC measures showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.01 in 66-70 years of age), and FVC measures increased with increasing weight. In the case of FVC and FEV1/FVC measures according to height by age, FVC and FEV1/FVC measures showed a statistically significant difference, p<0.01 in below 50 years of age and p<0.05 in over 76 years of age respectively. From these results, we conclude that age, weight and season had effects on FVC and FEV1/FVC measures of elderly persons, and with increasing age, weight and height had more effect on FVC and FEV1/FVC measures.
