본 글은 울산약사동북동유적 삼국시대 고분군을 대상으로 당대의 내․외적인 시대적 상황과 단
야구라는 특정 유물을 통하여 고분군 축조 집단의 사회․기능적 성격을 파악하고자 하였다. 울산
약사동북동유적의 삼국시대 고분군은 4C 후반에 목곽묘가 처음으로 축조되기 시작하여 7C 후반
석실묘가 소멸되기까지 약 350∼400년간 지속적으로 조영된 지역집단의 공동묘역이다. 특히 다양
한 출토유물 중에서 단야구는 5C 1/4∼6C 2/4의 특정 기간 중에서만 다량 매납되는 특징을 가진다. 5․6C대는 신라가 가장 활발히 영토 확장을 꽤하던 때이다. 특히 남쪽의 낙동강 하류에 위치한
가야와의 전쟁에서 울산지역은 신라의 교두보 역할을 했을 것으로 생각된다. 그리고 유적과 인접하
여 달천철장이라는 우수한 철생산지가 위치하고 있다. 이상과 같은 시대적 상황과 유적의 입지적
특성, 그리고 단야구라는 특정 유물 등으로 볼 때, 울산약사동북동유적 삼국시대 고분군 축조집단
은 달천철장이라는 우수한 철생산지를 배경으로 신라의 군사적 방어와 세력 확장을 위한 철제 무
구류의 생산과 공급․유통을 담당하였던 철기 생산 전문 야장집단이었을 것으로 생각된다.

영어 초록

Depending on the region and timing, ancient Tombs were shown different between
each other. It provides a very important clue that a society is comprehended by
identifying structural characteristics and nature of buried artifact in the constructing
Process. Especially, it’s important a careful analysis of the social environment and
change process that the group have in order to study Deeply into the nature of the
group that constructed. In this respect, it conducted research of the Yaksa-dong &
Buk-dong ancient ruins that had been built in the Three Kingdoms period. The focuses
are the circumstance of that time and the social, functional character that the group that
constructed the ancient tombs.
The tombs of the Three Kingdoms period in Yaksa-dong & Buk-dong ancient ruins
were graveyard of regional groups that it had been constructed to last for nearly 350
years from the late fourth century of the first wooden chamber tomb to the late seventh
century of the last stone room tomb. The iron manufacturing tools have feature that
it’s buried during only certain period of time from the first quarter of fifth century to
the second quarter of sixth century. It's time Silla pursuing most actively territorial
expansion in the 5th and 6th centuries. Ulsan region had been taken bridgehead roles
for Silla in the war especially on Gaya where located in downstream of Nakdong
River. And It is at the excellent iron manufacturing centers called Dalcheon iron
production complex adjacent to the site. When considered the above times, locational
characteristics and certain artifacts named Iron manufacturing tools, it seems to the constructing group in Yaksa-dong & Buk-dong ancient tombs that the Metal worker
group was in charge of production, distribution and supply of the Iron arms with a
background of the excellent iron manufacturing centers called Dalcheon iron production
complex for the Military defense, expansion force of Silla.
