This study aimed to examine the perception of primary students on the aesthetic values of science and the relationshipbetween science and art, and investigating the influencing factors on the relationship between science and art. A total
of 89 primary students were asked to fill in a questionnaire on the perception of science, art and their connectedness, which
was developed by the researcher. The research findings were as follows. Students held conventional views on the nature of
science and art, and agreed that science and art were reciprocal. As for aesthetics of science, 65 percent of the students
regarded science as beautiful, and made judgment on the aesthetics of science based on what they observed and what they felt
in the classroom. They viewed usefulness of science and technology more beautiful than other aspects such as harmony, symmetry,
and simplicity in science. Regarding the factors affecting the relationship between science and art, most influential
were their judgment on the commonalities between the two and the conventional views of them. Accordingly, this study implicates
that students should be taught to experience an aesthetic value of science and to understand the commonalities between
science and art, so that they can enhance their creativity and interdisciplinary thoughts.
