본문내용
As achieving communicative competence becomes a crucial goal in English classroom nowadays, increasing number of schools in Korea has employed native-English teachers to teach English effectively. Like there is a saying ‘Many hands make light work’, co-teaching with the native-English teacher can enhance teaching quality in a way that two teachers can support each other making up for their weaknesses. Non-native English teachers may are not fluent English speakers or may not have good accent and pronunciations than the native English teachers. Therefore, Native English teachers can help the other teacher with English fluency and authentic language use, while the non-native English teachers can cover up with grammatical explanation and usage of the language. On the other hand, co-teaching may disturb students’ understanding if the two teachers cannot interplay effectively in the classroom. This may happen when the two teachers are in conflict in utilizing teaching materials and methods or when they fail to perform the lesson smoothly and cooperatively.
