Most of country has a holiday about harvest. For example Korea has “Chu-seok”
Japan has “O-bong” and America has “Thanks giving day”. Although the meaning is the
same, the date is different each country. Among of them what I want to tell, Korea’s
harvest holiday and America’s harvest holiday. Because actually this week is Korea
harvest day, and American harvest day was getting close.
Both of holiday is the same meaning about thanks for God to give great meal. First,
Korea harvest day’s name is “Chu-Seok”. It is a thanksgiving feast and is also called
Harvest Day, Harvest Moon Festival, or Hankawi (The name’s from is ; "han" = "great"
and "kawi" = "middle" and the full name’s meaning is "a great day in the middle of the
autumn"). The full harvest moon festival occurs on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.
The day before 14th and 16th of the 8th lunar month are also holidays, so give a total of
three days off to allow people for time about to visit their hometowns. As the most
important of all Korean holidays, during this period people jam the highways to visit
their hometowns and family members. And family members pay respect to their living
relatives and visit the graves of their ancestors. Family members exchange gifts
