1. Abstract
This experiment is to understand the motions in two-dimension, such as constant velocity motion, constant acceleration motion, collision of two objects. Also, the collision experiment is for verifying the conservation of momentum.
2. Introduction
It is significant to deal with two-dimensional motions which is just over the one-dimensional motions because we usually encounter two-dimensional motions rather than those of one dimension. There are three common kinds of two-dimensional motions. First one is constant velocity motion, the simplest motion, Second one is constant acceleration motion, which we can easily observe in the presence of gravity, and third one is collision of two objects, a simple interaction between objects.
3. Theoretical Background
1) Linear motion in constant velocity
In general, the velocity of an object is defined as: . In two dimension, the vectors have two components, one is for x component and the other is y component.
