We very often observe situations where being exposed to an electric shrinking gun turns, or decreases the size of, people small, and sometimes they become so small that they are about the same size as the ants and even threatened by them, from the science fictions. Is this ‘shrinking’ theoretically possible to happen based on natural science? If, or if not, why would it be?

First, to generate more energy, our body will become high metabolism. However, since higher and faster metabolism will shorten our life span, we all need to be careful. At the same time, we would try also to consume more amount of food to follow the high pace of our metabolism. In this case, our ability to digest would eventually decay and, therefore, we might have to change our dining pattern to eat food continuously in small amount, or might have to get some of those nutrition shots to absorb more essential nourishments that our body needs.

2. If the size of individual cell shrinks,
hooses the way to increase the number of cells. As such, it is very tough job to control the size of human being by manipulating the size of each individual cell.
Once our cell shrinks, similar thing with the energy conservation issue, which I mentioned above, happens. While each cell generates a certain amount of energy, it will lose more energy due to the increased size of surface area that directly contacts the air. However, this problme cannot be resolved by the solutions mentioned earlier in the case where the number of cell changes, such as more hair or thicker skin. Therefore, each cell now must generat
