1. About SAMSUNG-TESCO
SAMSUNG TESCO is a retail joint venture between UK-based TESCO, one of the world`s leading retail groups, and SAMSUNG, South Korea`s top-ranked business conglomerate. These two partners formed the venture in 1999 with the aim of breaking into Korea`s highly competitive retail market. They created the HOMEPLUS that has grown to 113 branches throughout the country. Now, HOMEPLUS is the second largest retailer in South Korea, just behind E-Mart. HOMEPLUS stores typically offers general home products, clothing, electronics, and sporting goods. Stores also feature multi-story parking garages, large supermarkets, and small, special-purpose stores such as fast food restaurants, travel agencies, appliance-rental firms, pharmacies, and bookstores. There are also "culture centers" in some of the stores.
