소개글
language learning을 coffee와 바리스타에 비유하여 쓴 Metaphore 글입니다.
성대테솔때 journal로 제출했던 글입니다.
These days, thousands of students and adults are taking lessons to become `Baristas`. It is a professional job to deal with coffee, and it demands specific qualification. No matter how great the coffee is, its taste will not be great without baristas. Likewise, we the teachers, are taking this course for the TESOL certificate so we can create the `real espresso`, not the cheap uniform vending machine type of coffee. Baristas are referred as the `inspirer for the heart of coffee`, just as teachers are the ones who try to get close to students` hearts. We have to understand our students` demands and characters, and we must extract their maximum capability by using the target language and effective teaching skills, while baristas deal with similar matters related to coffee.

As I was drinking coffee to try stay awake, worrying about the upcoming second journal, a sudden interesting thought flashed through my mind. Both coffee and concerns for language learning are keeping me up right now anyway. Coffee and Language education, it seems like on advertisement, but I have found quite a lot of metaphoric connections. I`ve divided the content into three aspects : 1) traits, 2) methods of use, and 3) sociocultural aspects. Sound a little abstract and hard to imagine? Well, now you are going to find out. It will be easy to understand my essay if you consider the role of baristas as teachers, and coffee as students.
