The Korean high school education system imposes an extreme number of subjects
on students. We should give students the right of selecting courses that they want
to learn. This essay will discuss the merits of fewer classes.
Above all, students can focus on their remaining subjects and have more spare
time. Students` stress will be naturally reduced. Then, the reduction of stress will
cause active performance in classes as well as better grades. Besides, students can
allot some time to reading novels, listening to music, drawing pictures, taking
photos. Students will develop their aptitude through these various activities.
Students can escape from studying for tests; they have to cram for some subjects
demotivating them to graduate high school. Studying for tests facilitates
linear and additive learning, rather than meaningful learning. In addition, to practice
noticing test producers` intention to choose one right answer can`t help the high
school education system to bring up creative and imaginative students. If there are
fewer subjects to study, students will be ingenious.
