For Mini Paper 2, each learner will choose a particular pedagogic setting and suggest best ways to adopt the Teaching for Understanding (TfU) Framework in that setting. Learners will read a case study about the use of TfU in an online professional development program, WIDE World, developed at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
  
As an instructional designer, each learner will suggest how a TfU approach might be adopted in his/her own pedagogic setting, with a focus on advantages and constraints that might have to be overcome.

My father is a math teacher, so I learned mathematics from my father since when I was young. I was not that good at math, but learned it from my father with interest. While I was preparing for this case study, I thought it would be good to apply my experience. Math is a difficult subject for students following liberal arts track, and I acknowledge the fact that a lot of students just memorize the mathematical formulas, without full understanding of the concept. In this task, I would like to apply teaching method to mathematics. It all starts from the question: what is the meaning of understanding, which is considered to be the core concept in TFU? `Understsanding` means the ability of using a topic flexibly, while also meaning the ability to think and apply what one knows. Also, true understanding is not guaranteed from just knowing a knowledge, because it is possible to memorize and calculate without full understanding of the content. Therefore, we should widen the range of our understanding by looking for corresponding knowledge in real situations, solving tasks by our own thinking, and applying old knowledge to new
