본문내용
L.L. Bean
In the three decades prior to 1996, Sales growth averaged nearly 20% per year.
In 1995, Sales hit $1 Billion.
From 1995 to 2001, sales growth was less than 2 percent annually.
L.L. Bean
Between 2000 and 2002, L.L. Bean opened three retail stores to complement their original store in Freeport, Maine.
The 3 additional stores were not performing up to expectations.
A Search for Growth
In January 1999, L.L. Bean formed a new organizational structure built around 7 strategic business units (SBUs): Women’s, Men’s, Kid’s Outdoors Travel, Home, and Freeport Studio
The breakdown into 7 SBUs was thought to create a more decentralized control which would yield more results-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit into the business.
A Time For Change
In May 2001, Chris McCormick took over from Leon Gorman as CEO.
McCormick was the first CEO that was not part of the Bean family.
