Executive Summary
The demand for chocolate in the Western world, i.e. Europe and North America, has been strong for many decades. This high demand for chocolates suggests that there is room in the industry for other firms to make a profit. The only question to ask is where would be the best location to build a plant and distribution centre.
Malaysia is an emerging country in South Asia that has seen a high rate of economic growth. Malaysia’s economy is proving its reliability and growing stronger as time goes on. Many different corporations from all sorts of industries are locating some of their operations in Malaysia because of some of the business advantages that this location offers, such as a lower wage rate when compared to Western countries.
Malaysian culture is very different from Western culture and any business that seeks to establish itself in this country would need to become very familiar with the various cultural norms regarding hierarchy, religion, greetings, meetings, and gender.
