Introduction

Samsung is actively engaging in a broad range of sports events such as running sports teams, supporting domestic and international competition groups, sports marketing & sponsorship, and sports administration. Samsung appreciates the value of sports and aims to communicate with others through joyous and moving stories. Samsung being one of the global leading companies, Samsung’s sports activities have their purpose in contribution to the well-being of mankind.
Samsung’s support for various sports teams is an on-going project and we promise to provide the public with new dreams and hopes. Samsung’s sports’ marketing has been especially effective overseas. Starting with the 1998 Nagano Olympics, Samsung’s participation as the official Olympic sponsor has lasted over 10 years and we are seeing remarkable results from sports marketing; the Olympic Games, Asian Games, EPL league, Golf and U.S. football.
However, Samsung’s brand value is ranked 17th this year by Interbrend survey. Brand value is not higher than our revenues positions which is ranked 9th. This result makes us consider our brand value position. Therefore, this is the time to reduce gap between brand value and revenue rank and improve Samsung’s brand value through sports marketing strategy.
