I understand that it would be harder to write a description of the ECS3390 course if the readers will be international audiences. As a student who takes your ECS3390 class, I want to suggest you some important points about cross-cultural communication which you might consider. While I attended university in Korea I have met many exchange students who were from various countries; Switzerland, Poland, China, and so on. I also attend UTD as an international student. With these experiences, I have learned and found out many culture differences. I am going to tell you two of those things that I have experienced in person.
In UTD, there are some mandatory classes for all students such as an American history class, a government class, and a Rhetoric class. For people who graduate high school in America, those mandatory courses would make sense. However, international students who have studied under different academic systems would not understand why they must take those courses. Some of them would want to study more on their major subjects. Likewise, the ECS3390 class is not a major course which some of international students are not interested in. I also did not understand why engineering students must take a writing class but after joined this class, I found out this course is very useful to be prepared for professional reports and to become a professional employees. In this point of view, you would need to explain why this course is useful by stating about team project working and by explaining that engineering students need to learn how they write reports or letter professionally.
