소개글
1) 광물이나 암석 표본들은 관찰하고자 하는 특징이 잘 나타난 것을 사용한다.2) 광물의 수는 6가지 이상이 넘지 않도록 하며 색, 조흔색, 결정형, 굳기, 쪼개짐과 깨짐, 자성, 염산과의 반응 등의 성질을 이용하여 탐구 활동을 하게 한다.
3) 암석이나 광물을 깰 때에는 파편이 튀지 않도록 주의시키고 염산을 사용할 때에는 손이나 옷에 묻지 않도록 하며 반응을 관찰한 후에는 물로 씻어 보관한다.
4) 토양은 오랜 시간에 걸쳐서 만들어지는 중요한 자원임을 알게 하고 토양 오염에 대한 관심을 갖도록 지도한다.
5) 침식, 퇴적 작용으로 형성되는 지형을 학습할 때에는 사진, 슬라이드, 비디오 등의 시청각 자료를 많이 활용하도록 한다.
6) 암석의 순환 과정은 자연에서 눈으로 직접 확인하기 어려우므로 비디오 자료, 슬라이드 자료 등을 이용하여 지도한다.
7) 학생들이 직접 보았거나 관찰한 지형을 발표하게 하여 학습에 대한 흥미를 유발시킨다.
8) 해수의 침식, 운반, 퇴적 작용에 의해 형성되는 지형은 우리나라의 해안 지역에서 비교적 쉽게 관찰할 수 있으나, 빙하와 바람의 작용에 의해 형성되는 지형은 관찰이 어렵기 때문에 사진자료를 활용하여 설명한다.

본문내용
지각은 지구의 단단한 부분으로 인간이 발을 딛고 살고 있는 곳이다. 그러므로 지각의 중요성은 대단히 높으며, 지각의 구성 물질과 그 특징에 대해서 알아야 하는 것은 당연하다.이 단원에서는 지각을 이루는 물질은 암석이고, 이러한 암석은 광물이라는 기본 단위로 이루어져 있으며, 광물은 다시 8대 원소로 대부분 이루어져 있다는 것을 배우게 된다. 광물에서는 각 광물의 특징을 관찰하는 법과 관찰한 내용을 바탕으로 광물의 종류를 알아보는 법을 배우게 된다. 또한 암석을 생성과정에 따라 화성암, 퇴적암, 변성암으로 구분하는 것을 배우게 되며, 각 암석의 세부적인 구분 방법과 특징에 대해 배우게 된다. 또, 이러한 지각 구성 물질은 여러 가지 요인에 의하여 끊임없이 변화하여 순환한다는 것을 배우게 된다. 그리고 광물과 암석이 우리의 생활에서 어떻게 사용되고 있는지 알아본다.
지표의 변화 소단원에서는 풍화작용과 풍화작용으로 인한 토양의 생성에 대해 다루며, 침식, 운반, 퇴적 작용을 유수, 지하수, 파도, 빙하, 바람의 작용에 의해서 생기는 특징적인 지형과 관련지어 배우게 된다.
이 단원은 초등학교 4학년의 ‘지표의 변화’에서 여러 가지 요인에 의해 지표면이 변화되는 과정을 살펴본 것과 ‘지층과 화석’에서 지층의 모양과 지층을 이루고 있는 물질, 그리고 화석에 대해 알아본 것과 연계되며, 고등학교 지구과학Ⅱ ‘광물과 암석’에서의 광물, 화성암, 변성암, 퇴적암에 관한 내용에 다시 연계된다.
