본문내용
Last year, I took a political science class. I read a book named ‘Civil Disobedience’ of Henry David Thoreau. Civil disobedience is one form of civil resistance which is the active, professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands, and commands of a government. It is commonly defined as being nonviolent resistance. (Wikipedia) Thoreau was a naturalist and he wrote many books about botany. He was interested in social problems as well as nature. To be opposed to the Mexican War, he didn’t pay for a head tax and went to jail. ‘Civil Disobedience’ based on that experience had a big effect on Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. They all had same philosophy from Thoreau but they had quite differences in many ways. In this essay, I am going to discuss about the differences between Gandhi and King : Backgrounds, Social Situations and For Whom.
