Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet without an intermediary service.
Nowadays, customers are attracted to online shopping because not only its’ high-level convenience but also its’ broad selection, competitive pricing, and great access to information. As online shopping has become the fastest-growing market in the U.S retail industry, many online retail stores such as Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Costco.com and Sears.com have made ceaseless efforts on improving and updating their websites to meet customers’ expectations.
The most important factors determining whether customers return to a site are accessibility, worthwhile content, sensible arrangement, clean crisp page design, and good use of visuals and special effects.
This memo will evaluate four popular online retail stores (Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Costco.com and Sears.com) and will conclude which website is most and least effective with the criteria mentioned above.
