In the past, many eminent scholars anticipated the world’s population would be growing up, and it would be brought the shortage of food and energy to support people. Today, however, the prediction seems to be going on differently because the birth rate in the developed countries is going down. To deal with this issue, the nations including Korea are focusing on the effects of low birth rate. There are three effects: lowing nation power, rising old people and accepting immigration easily.
One of the effects is that the Korea competitive power will be weaker. Human resources are very important in Korea because Korea has less nature resources than any other countries. Firstly, if the birth rate is decreasing, there will be few soldiers in the army to protect the country. It means when a war occurs, Korea may have disadvantage. Secondly, Korea needs individuals to compete with people from other countries in the global stage since it is very fatal issue for Korea to trade with other countries to make a living. For instance, Korea has shortage of man power in various fields such as shipping industry, architectural services and electrical engineering, which play important roles by contributing to Korea economy. Therefore, the decreasing birth rate will shake Korean security and commerce.
