In this article, the writers Ward and Prosser attempt to exam how advances in information technology have changed the face of learning. They begin by justifying their papers relevance by showing the widespread use of information technologies in today’s school systems. They note that the 2003 Current Population Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau yielded that 83.4% of children between the ages of three to seventeen years of age use a computer at school and 43.1% also have access to the Internet. The article quickly turns to a look at different opinions on what exactly information exchange is, what are educational relationships and what effects face-to-face communications have on individuals.
