본문내용
I. IntroductionIn debating Marx’s theory of history and the base/superstructure model, there have been mainly two different aspects. Simplifying this debate, on the one hand, it has been argued that social consciousness(superstructure) is determined by the economic structure(base) of society and that there is no role allotted for social, political and ideological superstructure to move up to the different stage of history of communism beyond capitalism. On the contrary, it has also been argued that ‘the superstructure is in some kind of sense conducive to the operation of the base’. In sum, whereas the former emphasises systematic and automatic procedure of the development of human history, the latter emphasises the active role of human agency.
Therefore, the essay topic requires us to tackle mainly two different questions ; whether or not ideology can affect the economic structure of society and ,if it can, how it can affect the economic structure. Bearing theses questions in mind, I shall make a subdivision of my arguments into the following three sections.
