A designer
Jonathan Ive, the designer of iPod, has worked for Apple since 1996. When I Pod’s new CEO is introduced, the CEO were looking for hero who could rescue apple from a bog. And Jonathan has accomplished the vision and dream.
When Jonathan was designing iPod, he tried to express extreme simplicity and minimalism on design like creating a shape which shows no screw at all. iPod was not simply a stylish design but an innovation on structure.
Designers of iPod including Jonathan are still trying to improve the design of iPod. Its steady improvement produced many designs from the first generation to fifth generation. The way of developing it is not radical. That is, the concept of iPod is maintained however it is improving by incremental changes such as color, shape, size and function. For example, corners of new iPod are rounded which actually used to be a shape of rectangle with sharp corners, and the latest product is iPod Touch. It has a sensor that recognizes touching.
The iPod designers are not only trying to make it complicated by putting more functions but also they are inventing iPod Shuffle which only have a function of playing music which is actual purpose of a music player.
