Ⅰ. 서론

인간은 기쁨, 두려움, 분노, 슬픔, 놀람, 혐오 등과 같은 정서를 표현하는 능력을 가지고 태어난다(Izard, 1971 Izard, Fantauzzo, Castle, Haynes, Rayia and Putman, 1995). 한 살 정도의 영아도 기본정서를 얼굴표정이나 몸짓 등을 이용하여 자신의 정서를 타인에게 나타낸다(Lewis, 2000). 만약 영아가 놀라거나 두려움 등과 같은 정서를 느끼면, 얼굴표정이 변하거나, 울거나, 엄마에게 다가가 안기려는 행동들을 한다.
이러한 영아의 정서표현이 중요한 이유는 물리적?사회적 환경에 대해 적응하도록 도
움을 주기(곽승주, 2008; Ekman, 1993) 때문이다. 또한 영아기는 정서발달의 토대를 형성하는 시기로(Goleman, 1995), 이 시기에 정서를 표현하거나 정서를 조절하는 경험을 축적하지 못했을 경우, 이후 아동기와 청소년기에 다양한 행동상의 위축, 우울, 불안 등과 같은 내면화문제나 물리적?언어적 공격성을 나타내는 외현화문제를 야기할 수 있다(김인숙?김유진?김영희, 2010 박지현?송하나, 2011 Davies, Sturge-Apple, Cicchetti, Liviah and Emily, 2009). 그러나 영아들의 정서적 표현은 성인처럼 세련되고 다양하지 않다. 이는 성인처럼 기본정서와 복합정서를 표현할 수 없기 때문이다.

5. 상호작용의 촉진 및 유지의 수단

Rolls(1990)는 정서적 행동과 표현은 사회적 유대를 증가시킨다고 설명한다. 영아는음식과 편안함을 제공하고 보호해 주는 성인을 자신의 곁에 두고 싶어 하기 때문에 애착행동을 나타내는데, 애착행동은 성인과의 신체적 접촉을 유지하게 하고, 이후에는 성인과의 근접성을 유지시킨다(Hinde, 2006). 영아들의 이러한 애착행동 특성 때문에, 교실환경에서 어린 영아일수록 신뢰하는 성인인 교사와의 상호작용이 많이 일어나, 영아들이 교사 주변에서 탐색하고 놀이하는 경우가 많다. 그러나 교사와 영아가 일대일로 상호작용하는 것이 아니기 때문에, 영아들은 교사와의 상호작용을 위해 나름대로의 전략을 세워야 한다.
