Ⅰ. Introduction
As globalization ushered in new era of cross-border interaction, moving oneself from one place to another place has become much easier to people. Moreover, it has helped people to experience different cultures with developed technologies. While globalization has made the borders among the countries blurry, several industries have rapidly grown. One of them is ‘Heritage Tourism’.
Heritage is used and promoted especially in the travel industry, in which it is seen as an important resource. Heritage and culture have become so important in the tourism industry since they have inexhaustible potential to attract visitors who pursue an exoticism. For that reason, cultural heritage has become the basis for an independent sector of tourism called ‘Heritage Tourism’. Thus heritage and tourism have become inextricably linked all over the world. This link can be seen in both negative and positive lights.
This paper will examine the identity of ‘Piazza San Marco ’ in Venice, Italy which is most well-known and widely loved place all over the world. How the identity of the place has been changed and the different perspectives between tourists and local people will be mentioned here.
