제대로 번역한 Essential Reading4 Chap3. Food (ternational travelers shouldn’t miss . . .

A. The Hot Dog Eating Contest (in the United States)
This contest takes place every year. This summer, 20 contestants are taking part. The winner will be the person who eats the most hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes. It may surprise you that being overweight is a drawback. It is far more important to have “an elastic stomach”, so the competitors train by drinking lots of water in a very short time to make their stomachs stretch. Sometimes, they quickly dip the buns in water to make them easier to swallow. Although most competitors are local U.S. citizens, Japanese Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi currently holds the world record: he ate 53 1/2 hot dogs on July 4, 2004! There is no cash prize for this contest: the winner receives a mustard-yellow belt and a year’s supply of hot dogs.
